Johnson City mother, daughter arrested in connection with alleged forged school excuse slips

Staff report • Apr 6, 2007 at 12:00 AM

A Johnson City mother and her 15-year-old daughter were arrested Thursday after allegedly working together to forge doctor's excuses in an attempt to justify the high school student's multiple absences.

A school resource officer at Science Hill High School and a Johnson City Juvenile Court probation officer were alerted Monday to the possibility that five forged excuses were being presented to both the school and court to justify the girl's absences at SHHS and a court-ordered program.

After an investigation, Sheila Hunter, 44, 3505 Bondwood Circle, was charged with contributing to the delinquency of a minor and child neglect.

Her teenage daughter is facing a charge of tampering with and fabricating evidence.
