BLOUNTVILLE - Sullivan County Sheriff's Office deputies spent much of Monday afternoon in a foot pursuit of two suspected burglars.

It all started just before 1:30 p.m. when the sheriff's office received a call about a burglary in progress at an Adams Chapel Road residence in Blountville, SCSO Detective B.J. Richardson said.

The suspects fled in a white BMW, and that vehicle was stopped a short time later by officers.

During the stop, officers arrested the female driver, but two male suspects - both believed to be juveniles - fled on foot.

Brittany Sutherland, 19, of 1269 Catawba St., Kingsport, was taken into custody during the traffic stop.

Richardson said he did not know how many officers became involved in the pursuit but said there were a number of deputies looking for the suspects.

In addition to two-legged officers, a K-9 unit also responded and was finally able to locate the two suspects hiding in a brush pile.

Tennessee Highway Patrol troopers also assisted in the search, Richardson said.

The investigation is continuing, and charges are pending.
