Atmos Energy offers analysis of customers' gas bills online

Atmos Energy Corp. on Thursday announced its newest online analysis tool for consumers. Called "ClearBill," it will help residential customers better understand both their natural gas usage and their bill amount.

The free online tool helps customers understand how different components impact the total amount of a bill.

ClearBill automatically determines if the customer's most recent natural gas bill is within that customer's normal range of consumption. ClearBill then compares the current gas bill with the bill from the same time a year ago and explains how the differences in weather, number of billing days, and charge components impact the current gas bill.

For the ClearBill analysis to work, a customer must have a 13-month billing history with Atmos Energy.

"ClearBill takes the mystery out of understanding your natural gas bill," said John Paris, president of the Atmos Energy Kentucky/Mid-States Division. "We want our customers to easily understand their natural gas bill, and this new tool is another step in that direction. It also makes it easier for our customers to do business with us because this free, easy-to-use tool is online and available anytime."

The new program is accessible on the Atmos Energy Web site at www.atmosenergy.com under the "Manage Your Energy Use" page. The site contains a suite of energy management tools which includes the Energy Profile, Energy Calculator, Energy Library and Energy Advisor.

The Energy Profile provides a report of how customers can save energy throughout the home. The Energy Calculator helps customers discover how much energy a home appliance uses, as well as its average cost to operate. The Energy Library provides detailed research on a variety of energy topics, and the Energy Advisor allows customers to ask energy-related questions of an Atmos Energy expert.

Atmos Energy Corp., headquartered in Dallas, is the country's largest natural-gas-only distributor, serving about 3.2 million gas utility customers. Atmos Energy's utility operations serve more than 1,500 communities in 12 states from the Blue Ridge Mountains in the East to the Rocky Mountains in the West.

Atmos Energy's non-utility operations, organized under Atmos Energy Holdings Inc., operate in 22 states. They provide natural gas marketing and procurement services to industrial, commercial and municipal customers and manage company-owned natural gas pipeline and storage assets, including one of the largest intrastate natural gas pipeline systems in Texas.
