Dog injured in Kingsport shootout

Staff report • Feb 17, 2007 at 10:18 AM

KINGSPORT - A dog sustained the only injury in a shootout at a Kingsport home Thursday evening.

About 10:30 p.m., two black men forced their way into the home of Cory Sensabaugh at 1125 Lomax St. and, while holding them at gunpoint, demanded money from several people. A visitor to the home scared the two away, according to Kingsport police.

But a short time later, they returned. A visitor at the home was also carrying a gun, and a brief shootout took place with five shots being fired. The suspects ran from the home and left in a newer model burgundy sedan. A pit bull at the home was injured in the shootout.

Two neighborhood homes were also struck by bullets, police said.
