Ezra Rogers, 28, P.O. Box 368, Ben Hur, was indicted on two counts of grand larceny for allegedly stealing the converters from two individuals in the St. Charles area.
Justin Britt, 24, Route 2, Box 492, Pennington Gap, was indicted on two counts of receiving stolen property in connection with the converters.
According to court documents, investigators were dispatched to St. Charles on Dec. 16 to investigate the theft of three converters in the area. While police investigated, one of the victims called Ward's Junkyard in Stickleyville and was told that Britt, who police had already developed as a suspect, and another male had recently sold some converters for scrap.
The victim went to the junkyard and identified one of the converters as being his. Police then picked up Britt for questioning, and he allegedly gave a statement in which he claimed that Rogers brought him some converters and the two then sold them to the junkyard.
The grand jury also returned indictments against two Tennessee men for the July burglary of Gibson Station Baptist Church. An offering box, valued at $300, was taken during that burglary, and a window was destroyed in the process of the break-in. James Louis Maiden, 31, 271 Parks Circle, Harrogate, and Ronnie Allen Rose, 23, 116 Carlton St., Harrogate, have been charged with one count each of break and enter and grand larceny and two counts each of conspiracy.
