Kingsport police make drug bust after sting

KINGSPORT - Kingsport vice officers made another drug arrest Thursday after using an undercover operative to purchase illegal narcotics from a city man. Kingsport Police Department Vice Detective Cliff Ferguson said the operative made a drug purchase from Wes Robinette, of 3917 Lake Valley Court, and then obtained a warrant for his arrest. While at the residence, officers found approximately one-half pound of marijuana, baggies for packaging the drug and $670 cash, Ferguson said. Robinette was charged with sale of over one-half ounce of marijuana and will be arraigned Monday.
Richlands man sentenced in Lee burglary case

JONESVILLE - Timothy Wade Mitchell Jr., 29, 102 Virginia Ave., Richlands, was sentenced Friday in Lee County Circuit Court to three years in the Virginia State Penitentiary after pleading guilty Dec. 1 to one count each of break and enter and grand larceny and two counts of conspiracy. Judge Tammy McElyea sentenced Mitchell to 10 years in prison then suspended seven years in lieu of seven years of probation. McElyea ordered that two years and two months of the sentence could be served concurrently with a sentence he is serving in Tazewell County and that the remaining 10 months be served consecutively to the Tazewell sentence.
