Six Sigma Green Belt training offered

BLOUNTVILLE - The Institute for Business and Industry Services of Northeast State Community College is sponsoring Six Sigma Green Belt training on Thursday evenings beginning Jan. 25 through May 24. The class will meet from 6 to 9 p.m. on Northeast State's main campus, 2425 Highway 75, Blountville. Green Belt training introduces the participant to the full DMAIC (define, measure, analyze, improve, control) process of Six Sigma. Each class will include a combination of lecture and hands-on study. Upon course completion and passing of a comprehensive exam, participants will receive a certificate of completion from Northeast State and Quality America. The course is designed for anyone who will be leading Six Sigma deployment in his or her organization as well as those who will be participating in any Six Sigma project work. KINGSPORT - Effective Jan. 1, Blackburn, Childers & Steagall PLC of Johnson City and Hoover Harrison Associates PC of Kingsport have joined together to form the largest accounting firm in Northeast Tennessee and will be operating under the name of Blackburn, Childers & Steagall, PLC. Hoover Harrison has served the areas of East Tennessee and Southwest Virginia for more than 30 years. One of the largest firms in Kingsport, Hoover Harrison was formed in 1975 when Herbert Hoover and Roscoe Harrison merged their individual practices. The BCS Kingsport office is located at 440 E. Sullivan St., downtown, the current Hoover Harrison location. BCS was founded in 1961 by Joe Blackburn Jr. and Carl Childers Jr. The combined firm has eight partners - Jeff Blackburn, Charles Steagall, Karen McMurray, Tommy Greer, Melissa Steagall-Jones, Wade Farmer, Travis McMurray and Charles Huffman - and a staff of more than 70 employees. BCS services include accounting, taxes and consulting to cover areas such as auditing, personal financial planning, medical practice consulting, litigation support, business valuations, estate services, employee benefits, and other specialized services.
