Hawkins County Sheriff Roger Christian said Tuesday his department is on the trail of Bill Gean Harp, 35, 3289 Caney Valley Road, Surgoinsville.
Harp and his alleged accomplice, William Donald Bishop, 38, 343 Shipley Road, Church Hill, are accused of forcing their way into the residence of Michael Rollins on Caney Valley Loop north of Church Hill and committing a strong-arm robbery.
Bishop was arrested by Hawkins County Deputy David Benton after being seen walking along Caney Valley Loop shortly after the robbery was reported. Harp is still on the loose.
According to reports, about 8 p.m. Sunday two men forced their way into the residence wearing hooded jackets and some sort of masks. They allegedly identified themselves to Rollins as agents with the federal Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA).
"(Rollins) stated that around 8 p.m. he heard a noise on his front porch," Benton said. "When he opened the front door to investigate he was met by two adult males who pushed their way inside and forced him into the bedroom. One of the males held his head down in the corner and stated that if he moved he would shoot him.
"That same male also identified himself as a DEA agent, stating they were executing a drug raid and asked where his pills were."
Rollins told the men where to find a lockbox containing an undetermined number of Lortab pills. Rollins told police he also witnessed one of the men take a shotgun and later found that a .380 caliber handgun he owns was also missing.
According to Benton's report, the deeds to Rollins' mobile home and property was also taken along with titles to several vehicles.
Benton stated that while en route to the Rollins residence he came upon a man whose clothing matched the description of the robbers. That man was Bishop, who during an interview allegedly admitted to his part in the robbery, named Harp as his accomplice, and led Benton to one of the stolen firearms which had been hidden.
Bishop was charged Sunday with aggravated robbery, aggravated burglary and theft over $500. He has since been released on bond.
Christian asked that anyone with information on the whereabouts of Harp contact the sheriff's department at 272-4848.
