The Civic Chorale, the region’s leading independent auditioned choir, will hold auditions for new members beginning at 7 p.m., Thursday, Aug. 16, in room CC10 of Munsey Memorial United Methodist Church, located at the corner of Roan and Market streets in Johnson City.
The choir rehearses at Munsey Memorial on Thursday nights from 7 to 9 p.m.
The first rehearsal for the fall season is Thursday, August 23. This year's season features concerts on Oct. 21, Dec. 9, March 9 and May 18.
Ideal candidates are singers with good sight-reading skills who love choral music. Interested singers should contact the conductor, Rod Caldwell, via email at [email protected] to schedule an audition. Caldwell is also the director of choral studies at Mars Hill University in Mars Hill, N.C.
Auditions are private and short (about 10 minutes) and involve singing a familiar piece and musical skill assessment. Specific auditions requirements are available on the chorale’s website at www.thecivicchorale.org under the “join us” tab.
Founded in 1973, the Chorale’s purpose is to provide opportunities for adult singers to perform serious choral music and contribute to the cultural environment of the area. The ensemble performs at various churches and other locations, often in collaboration with other local musical groups.
