Jamie Bush, the Kingsport auto dealer’s sales manager, presented the Humane Society with a $5,476 check during Thursday’s Scott County Board of Supervisors meeting.
“Every year, we partner with Subaru of America during our annual Share the Love event, where we collect a donation for every new Subaru that we sell or lease during that time period, and we get to choose a local organization to support,” Bush said. “This year, we’ve chosen to support the Scott County Animal Humane Society and are pleased to announce that we’ve raised over $5,000 to help them with all the hard work they do in the county.”
Several Humane Society representatives, including one who said the funds will greatly assist the organization’s spay and neuter program, were on hand to accept the donation.
“As of last month, we have assisted with over $3,500 spays and neuters since we’ve organized, and 70 percent of those are cats,” she said. “We work very hard with people that take in stray cats and feed them and give them an effort to get them spayed and neutered. This will go a long way in helping us do that.”
BOS Chairman David Redwine thanked Courtesy Subaru for selecting the Humane Society as its chosen charity.
“We appreciate the contribution and you making a good selection as your charity to represent,” Redwine told Bush during the meeting. “They could sure use some money, and we appreciate everything.”
