Fire damages Colonial Heights apartment building

KINGSPORT — A fire at an apartment complex on Spring Lane in Colonial Heights damaged four units Monday night, displacing several families, according to a news release from the Kingsport Fire Department.
In the release, KFD Public Education Officer Barry Brickey said Kingsport Central Dispatch received a call reporting the fire at the apartment complex at 7:06 p.m.
Four engines and two ladder trucks were dispatched from the KFD, along with an engine and personnel from Warriors Path Volunteer Fire Department.
One apartment was a total loss, Brickey said, while a second apartment was heavily damaged. A third suffered water and smoke damage, and the fourth had smoke damage.
Crews were still on scene late Monday.
Multiple families were displaced by the fire, but no injuries were reported, Brickey said.
The cause of the fire was still under investigation.
Brickey said the American Red Cross is assisting the displaced families.
