KINGSPORT — Sullivan County Sheriff’s Office Vice and Narcotics Unit located three pounds of meth, among other drugs, during a traffic stop Wednesday.

SCSO officials said they received information Tuesday regarding the transportation and sale of large amounts of methamphetamine in the Kingsport and Tri-Cities area.

On Wednesday, officers conducted a traffic stop on North John B. Dennis Highway on Brittany Jane Chapman, who had an arrest warrant for failure to appear on drug charges in Scott County. Officers said they located over three pounds of meth, two grams of cocaine, 12 ounces of marijuana, $1,100 in cash, numerous small bags and two sets of digital scales. During the investigation, deputies identified a room at a local motel rented by Chapman. A warranted search of the room also produced an additional ounce of meth and over $900 in cash, according to the SCSO.

Chapman was arrested and charged with manufacturing methamphetamine, possession of Schedule VI drugs for resale, simple possession, unlawful drug paraphernalia, promotion of methamphetamine manufacturing and maintaining a dwelling where narcotics are sold. Chapman remains incarcerated in the Sullivan County Jail.
