Scott sheriff introduces Semper, recognizes deputies' bravery

Scott County Sheriff Chris Holder held a ceremony in Gate City Thursday to introduce the department’s new K-9 officer, Semper, and to honor two deputies for their bravery in rescuing a man from the Clinch River on April 21. The one-and-a-half-year-old  Malinois, German Shepherd mix is the department’s second K-9 officer and specializes in apprehension, narcotics and tracking. The officers honored were Lt. David Woody and Deputy Matt Baker.
