On Feb. 25 around 3 p.m., the Church Hill Police Department met with the victim, who said she had been giving Blake Shemar Swann a ride to a local store.
The victim stated that Swann, 19, 2659 Beech Creek Road, Rogersville, began arguing with her while she was driving on Lane Street.
"The victim stated that Swann then began punching her in the face numerous times and then grabbed the back of her head and began slamming her face into the steering wheel," said CHPD Officer Kevin Grigsby. "The victim was observed to have bruising and a cut on her forehead. She was able to bring the vehicle to a stop during the assault, but Swann then began pushing her right leg down on the accelerator in an attempt to get her to crash the vehicle."
The victim reportedly stated she almost crashed at the intersection of Lane Street and Old Union Road while the assault continued.
When the vehicle came to a stop at the intersection, Swann reportedly exited the vehicle and fled on foot.
He was arrested Sunday on East Main Street in Church Hill and arraigned Monday in Hawkins County Sessions Court on charges including aggravated assault and felony reckless endangerment.
