KINGSPORT — A weekend burglary at a city residence has police seeking the whereabouts of a uniquely colored English bulldog reportedly valued at $3,500.

At about 5:30 Friday evening, a woman called officers to her home in the 800 block of Dale Street. She said that when she went into a room to let her dogs out of their kennels, she discovered one kennel was damaged and one dog was missing.

According to Kingsport Police Department Public Information Officer Tom Patton, a window in the room was standing open and believed to be the point of entry. The stolen 1-year-old English bulldog — which answers to “Gordo” — sports a black and brown coloration that is rare to his breed. Investigators believe it is unlikely any others are in the area.

Police say a neighbor had spotted a male and female with a dog resembling Gordo behind a nearby apartment complex. That was about an hour before the burglary was discovered by the victim.

The male suspect was described as white, young and slim, wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt, a white T-shirt and blue jeans. The only description provided for the female is she had long brown hair.

Anyone with any information about the case is asked to contact Kingsport police at (423) 229-9429 or (423) 246-9111.
