Combative man Tasered at Kingsport Walmart

Nov. 23

At a market, a man tried to pay for $6 in gas with a counterfeit $20 bill. When the clerk told him it was fake, he then handed her three more, commenting that "they are all probably fake." He then departed.

Kingsport Police Department

Nov. 22

— During a Thanksgiving gathering at a residence on Mapleoak Lane, a neighbor approached and complained about vehicles parked in front of his residence. He then pulled out a knife and demanded someone come outside. The incident was recorded on a cell phone, netting the suspect's arrest for aggravated assault.

— At Walmart on Fort Henry Drive, loss prevention spotted a man who was banned. After stealing baseball cards, the suspect was confronted, then he ran through the store and bolted out an emergency exit. A police search located him hiding in nearby weeds. He was taken into custody without further incident.

Nov. 23

A Dorothy Street resident told police about people doing drugs in an abandoned home and how she entered to chase them away. She then found a fire in a back room and dialed 911. The incident is being investigated as arson.

Nov. 24

— A Stone Drive motorist said a speeding Dodge Charger had recklessly passed him by using the emergency lane. He then followed the car to Lowe's so he could "speak with" the driver, at which time the Charger driver displayed a handgun. The complainant fled and called police, who reviewed store footage of the incident. An investigation is continuing.

— When a worker at Westside Inn entered a room and found people were "squatting," he was pistol whipped by two men. Also, a female squatter pulled a knife on him. After threatening to kill him, they took his wallet and iPhone and fled. EMS transported the victim to the hospital for treatment.

— Police were alerted to an alleged stabbing outside the Walmart Neighborhood Market in Lynn Garden. The victim had left prior to police arrival, and according to a witness, didn't appear to have severe injuries. However, the suspect was still on scene in the parking lot. After taking off his shirt and throwing a knife to the ground, according to an officer’s report, the suspect advised he was going to "fight me like a man." Due to continually ignoring police orders — and creating a "hazardous" environment for shoppers — he was eventually Tasered and taken to the ground. He was arrested on several charges, including disorderly conduct and assault. Meth in his possession spurred a drug charge.
