Lee County shooting leaves one dead

PENNINGTON GAP — The Virginia State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation’s Wytheville Field Office, with the assistance of the Lee County Sheriff’s Office, is investigating a fatal shooting in Pennington Gap. 

On Tuesday at approximately 7:30 p.m., the LCSO responded to a 911 call for shots fired outside a residence in the 100 block of Virginia Ave. When officers arrived at the residence, they found an adult male who had been shot.

He was transported to Lonesome Pine Hospital in Big Stone Gap, where he was pronounced dead. His body will be transported to the Office of the Medical Examiner in Roanoke for examination and autopsy.
