— A man told police that as he walked down his driveway, his wife intentionally “ran him over with her car.” Abrasions were observed on the victim, who declined medical attention. Police learned the couple were arguing over “who smoked the last cigarette.” The woman wasn’t at the scene, but an assault warrant was issued for her arrest.
— In the parking lot of the sheriff’s office, a woman backed into an employee’s vehicle. When interviewed by an officer, she admitted to being “too drunk to be leaving,” then reached for her cupholder and took a swig from a malt beverage. She was arrested for DUI, driving on a suspended license and failure to have insurance.
Kingsport Police Department
When police were called to Rain nightclub on Stone Drive, they found a man bleeding from the nose and mouth. Though he couldn’t recall what occurred, officers observed “boot prints on the side of his face and back of his head.” According to witnesses, he had been “trying to pick a fight” with several different patrons, while bragging about being a Marine and MMA fighter. He was last seen arguing with a man of “large build,” but no one interviewed by police saw a fight. Management advised the business indeed has cameras, “but they do not work.” The victim was treated at a hospital for head trauma.
On Fort Henry Drive, an officer stopped to speak with a couple who were arguing. Police learned that after he went out for beers, the man admitted to his girlfriend that he had smoked marijuana. She then “went off,” according to his account, while she told police that using pot was his “secret sin.” Due to their levels of impairment alongside a major roadway, both were arrested for public intoxication and disorderly conduct.
— At a convenience store on West Stone Drive, police found a man passed out behind the wheel of a vehicle with the engine running. The windows were up and the doors were locked, forcing officers to break the glass to make entry. The driver had to be shaken “for about 15 seconds” before he woke up. He had an odor of alcohol, along with a syringe and pills in his possession. He was jailed on multiple charges.
— A woman called police to a Fort Henry Drive business, complaining about a man who made her daughters feel uncomfortable. He had offered to buy them items while “calling them names like ‘baby’ and ‘sweetie’ ” and when confronted by the mother, caused a disturbance by cursing her. An officer searched the area but was unable to locate the suspect.
