Corrections officers found an inmate bleeding from his face, but he refused to say what happened. A review of surveillance footage showed another prisoner approaching him with a cup of liquid — later determined to be bleach — and throwing it into his eyes. The victim was then punched in the face several times. Besides his initial charges that netted incarceration, the suspect is now additionally charged with aggravated assault.
— A woman told police that while driving on Bloomingdale Road with a 12-year-old passenger, a Ford Taurus was riding her bumper. She tried to speed up to get away, but the other motorist pulled alongside yelling and cursing. He also allegedly pulled out a pistol and pointed it in their direction, threatening, “We are going to have a bad (expletive) day.” Other than being a bald white man in his 30s, no additional suspect information was obtained.
— An officer was alerted to a suspicious woman in the parking lot of the jail in Blountville. She was found passed out behind the wheel of her car, and a check of her history showed that her license was suspended. She also had meth in a backpack and a bottle containing pills, netting her arrest on several charges. An incident report doesn’t state why she was at the jail.
Kingsport Police Department
Police issued a shoplifting citation to an employee of Walmart. According to loss prevention, the man had been stealing packs of chicken and deli meats while on the clock.
— A 63-year-old woman at a hospital reported being attacked and robbed three days prior. In an alley behind her home, two teenagers allegedly punched her several times and threw her down, then made away with her purse. Besides bruising around her eyes, medical staff advised she suffered a broken bone in her forearm. When asked why she didn’t contact police sooner, she said she “did not have a good enough description of the suspects.”
— At about 9 a.m., a patrol officer spotted a man with no shoes or pants attempting to walk across Stone Drive — and nearly getting hit by multiple vehicles. When stopped and questioned, he was found to be disoriented with slurred speech and was sweating profusely, explaining only that he was “trying to walk home.” After admitting taking Lortabs, he was arrested for public intoxication.
