BLOUNTVILLE — An incident involving an inmate earlier this year at the Sullivan County jail has led to the indictment of a former corrections officer, according to the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation.
A press release from the TBI states that Sullivan County District Attorney General Barry Staubus requested an investigation on March 12. TBI agents then determined that on March 8, corrections officer Jeri Dawn Patrick, 47, physically assaulted a female inmate. Further investigation allegedly revealed that Patrick falsely documented details about the incident.
Last week, a Sullivan County grand jury returned an indictment charging Patrick with one count of assault and one count of false reporting. On Tuesday, Patrick turned herself in and was booked into the Sullivan County jail. His bond was set at $10,000.
