Hawkins County Sheriff's Office
— A man told police that while on a dating website, he made contact with a female who admitted to only being 16. When he said he wasn't interested in a relationship with a juvenile, she responded with a picture of her flipping the bird. Now, the girl's father is contacting him online and asking, "What was going on?"
— A Church Hill man, age 60, sent $1,500 in payments to a Facebook group claiming to be with the U.S. government. He told police they had promised him $85,000 in return, but have yet to deliver.
Kingsport Police Department
— A 65-year-old man called police to an apartment on Riverbend Drive, saying his son had hit him in the face with a plastic urinal, threatened to duct tape his mouth closed, and choked him with a towel. While on scene, dispatch received a call about a man floating in the nearby South Fork and possibly in distress. Police and fire responded for rescue efforts, finding the man to be the assault suspect. On the riverbank he denied the violence, then explained he was swimming "because it is not illegal." Based on injuries sustained by his father, he was arrested for aggravated domestic assault.
— Central dispatch was alerted to a man "hitting his head on the metal siding" of a home on East Millpond. When police responded for a welfare check, a female resident became "agitated," while the man was found hiding in a closet. In his pocket was a "large quantity of meth," spurring his arrest.
— Two men claimed that while on Center Street, another motorist pulled alongside, flashed a gun and asked, "What the (expletive) are you looking at?" When both drivers exited their vehicles for a confrontation, the armed man pistol-whipped the complainant and fled the scene. A tag number for the suspect's car was given to police. An investigation is continuing.
— On North Eastman Road, a pickup exited the roadway and crashed into a glass wall at Action Rentals, coming to rest inside the business. Medical issues were suspected to have been the culprit, as the 82-year-old driver said he lost consciousness while driving. He suffered lacerations to his hands and head, but no one else was harmed.
— In the parking lot of a West Stone Drive pharmacy, an officer encountered a woman "demanding to go to jail." When police tried to "find another way to handle her issue," she threw items to the ground and took a fighting stance — boasting she would "do whatever it takes" to get arrested. After ripping off her bra and "being naked" in front of customers, according to an incident report, she was arrested for disorderly conduct.
