JCPD: Man found 'covered in blood' after stabbing juvenile

JOHNSON CITY — Police report that a 34-year-old man is in jail and a juvenile has been stabbed multiple times following an early morning incident in Johnson City.

A Thursday morning press release from the Johnson City Police Department states that James Blackburn, of 1110 High St., is charged with aggravated assault. At about 1 a.m., officers were dispatched to the Johnson City Medical Center in reference to a stabbing that had occurred in the area of South Roan Street and Plymouth Drive.

Simultaneously, officers were also dispatched to a suspicious person, later identified as Blackburn, covered in blood in the area of South Roan Street and Bonita Drive.

Police say that during their investigation, it was found that Blackburn had stabbed the victim at the hospital, a juvenile, multiple times “during an altercation.” A press release didn't specify what may have spurred the incident.
