Harvey J. Radford, 55, was later located, charged and booked into the city jail. Police were alerted to his alleged violence early Wednesday morning, when the 68-year-old victim drove herself to Indian Path Medical Center.
The woman told responding officers that her injuries were inflicted at the couple’s residence, 2100 Berry St. Radford reportedly began drinking at about 5:30 p.m. Tuesday. When the pair started arguing shortly thereafter, Radford allegedly retrieved a knife from the bedroom.
The woman said Radford stabbed her twice in the back, cut her arms and tried to stab her in the stomach. After she begged him for the knife, according to her account, Radford handed it over. When he broke her phone, she got in her car and drove to the hospital.
Police observed injuries consistent with the victim’s statements. When officers visited the Berry Street home, Radford reportedly walked out onto the front porch with blood on his clothes. He was taken into custody without incident. Inside the home, police reportedly located the knife described by the victim.
Radford is charged with aggravated domestic assault. As of Wednesday morning, he remained in the Kingsport city jail awaiting arraignment.
