Nathan Paul Wilmoth, 31, 345 Cobb Road, Surgoinsville, was arraigned Monday in Hawkins County Sessions Court on one count of Class B felony aggravated robbery stemming from an incident alleged to have happened on April 18 near the Carters Valley landfill.
The victim told HCSO Detective Chad Britton that Wilmoth came to his residence in an older model F-250 pickup that day with a female companion, and they gave him a ride to Dot and Rick’s Market on 11-W in Surgoinsville.
The victim stated that when they left the market, Wilmoth drove to Cobb Road behind the Carters Valley landfill.
The female reportedly stated she was sick, at which time Wilmoth pulled over at a wide spot in the road and they all exited the vehicle.
The victim stated that as they were getting back into the truck, Wilmoth struck him in the back of the head with a baseball bat, which caused him to fall to the ground.
Wilmoth then allegedly struck the victim several more times with the bat on the right shoulder and right foot, and then took $300 in cash and the victim’s Motorola G4 cell phone.
Britton said the victim had injuries consistent with his version of events including a knot on the back of his head and swelling to his right shoulder and right foot.
As of Tuesday, Wilmoth was being held in the Hawkins County Jail on $20,000 bond pending his next Sessions Court appearance on May 2.
There was no information available about the alleged female accomplice.
