KINGSPORT — A Thursday incident at a city home included a man attacking both his girlfriend and her juvenile son, according to police, then using a wooden post to beat a dog that came to their defense.

Ronald K. Price, 37, of Bluff City, was arrested early Thursday morning at a residence on Fairfield Avenue. According to an affidavit filed by a Kingsport police officer, first responders to the home found Price with several cuts on his legs, arms and face. He claimed he had been in the bedroom with his girlfriend when her dog “began attacking him.”

When the woman was questioned, she said Price was intoxicated, aggressive and started choking her for no reason. When the victim’s teenage son intervened, Price allegedly got on top of the boy and punched him in the face several times.

At that point, an animal identified as the “family dog” began biting Price on the leg. Price allegedly unscrewed a wooden bedpost, then used it to hit both the animal and woman in the head. When Price reportedly began punching the woman in the face, the dog attacked Price for a second time.

Officers reported the woman was observed to have a swollen face, while the juvenile had a bloody chin.

The dog had a large swollen knot and blood on top of his head, while the bloody wooden post was found lying on the floor.

Based on statements and evidence at the scene, Price was arrested on two counts of aggravated assault and one count of animal cruelty. After being arraigned in Kingsport, he was transported to the Sullivan County jail in Blountville.
