Thin Blue Line at the Kingsport Justice Center

KINGSPORT — If you pass by the Kingsport Justice Center, you’ll notice a thin blue line painted between the yellow lines on Shelby Street and Clay Street. The blue line, painted to show support for our local law enforcement officers, is representative of the thin line drawn between law-abiding citizens and the criminal element.
“We’re proud to show our support for those individuals who work so hard to keep us safe,” said City Manager Jeff Fleming. “This is just a small way to help bring attention to the great work our police department does.”
Historically, the thin blue line has been used to honor fallen officers and symbolize the duty of police to protect citizens from criminals. It also represents the public appreciation of such a professional police force.
