Despite losing more than 90 percent of its advertising budget, enrollment through the federal government’s health insurance marketplace is actually up over last year heading into Friday, the final day for consumers to sign up.
According to the latest data provided by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, more than 118,000 Tennesseans signed up for an individual insurance plan between Nov. 1, when enrollment began, and Dec. 9.
Compared to last year — when just 104,666 Tennesseans signed up between Nov. 1 and Dec. 10 — enrollment for this year is currently tracking about 11 percent higher.
A similar trend is also occurring nationally, where 4.67 million Americans have already enrolled through Dec. 9 compared to the 4.01 million who did through Dec. 10, 2016.
