The cost is $5. The passes went on sale Monday and, according to KATS Manager Chris Campbell, this new option is a permanent promotion for the transit service.
“We’ve wanted to offer a weekly pass for awhile,” Campbell said. “We’re pleased that we can now provide our riders with this option. It’s great for our riders that want to try our services out or just need our services for a short time.”
The weekly pass is a new way passengers can easily access transportation without having to worry about correct change, and they can also save money at the same time, Campbell said.
Riders can purchase a weekly pass from the KATS station, located at 109 Clay St. in downtown Kingsport. After purchasing the pass, the rider will have it stamped with a special code, validating the pass for that week. KATS also offers a monthly pass for $20.

KATS began in 1995 to serve the citizens of Kingsport. Today, the service has retooled bus routes to provide better and more efficient service to new and growing areas of Kingsport. KATS operates six vehicles on fixed-route service Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. along with four vehicles for Dial-A-Ride passengers during the same service hours.
