STAFF REPORT • May 9, 2018 at 6:00 PM

ROGERSVILLE — Route 70-N on Clinch Mountain north of Rogersville will remain closed between Pressmens Home Road and Clinch Valley Road 10 days longer than originally anticipated.

Originally, one lane of traffic was to reopen on Monday, May 14, but TDOT issued a press release Tuesday stating that the road now will be closed until the morning of Thursday, May 24.

Due to an unstable rockslope, Route 70-N has been closed since April 16. Conditions remain hazardous at this time as crews are continuing to perform rockfall mitigation work in the area.

Detour routes are as follows:

From SR 70 in Rogersville: Take US 11-W west to Route 31 in Mooresburg, head north to Route 33 and north to Route 70-N at Kyles Ford.

From SR 70 in Kyles Ford: Take Route 33 south to Route 31 south in Sneedville, go to 11-W in Mooresburg, and head east to Route 70-N in Rogersville.

Motorists are advised to use extreme caution in this area as workers will be present.
