Green wins Tennessee Open in playoff; Carter seventh

DICKSON — Kingsport’s Austin Carter closed with a 2-under 70 on Thursday to finish tied for seventh at 11-under 205 following the final round of the Tennessee State Open at GreyStone Golf Club in Dickson.

Evensville’s Hunter Green, who began the day seven strokes off the lead, sank a 15-foot birdie putt on the first playoff hole to beat Brad Hawkins of Knoxville for the championship. Green and Hawkins finished regulation tied at 14-under 202 after Green fired a closing 8-under 64.

Jonesborough’s Jack Rhea tied for 13th at 10 under after a final-round 70. Kingsport’s William Nottingham matched his Tri-Cities mates with a final-round 70 to tie for 35th at 4 under.
