KINGSPORT — The World Long Drive Tour is coming to Cattails golf course this weekend.

That means hundreds of visitors and worldwide exposure for the Model City. Unfortunately, it also means there are going to be issues with traffic in and around the MeadowView Conference Resort and Convention Center.

The event — Tennessee Big Shots Benefiting Niswonger Children’s Hospital — will take place Sunday and Monday, with the conclusion broadcast live on the Golf Channel from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday.

To help with traffic flow, Kingsport will make some changes to the traffic pattern on Meadowview Parkway during the following days:

Sunday: 7:30 a.m. – 2:30 p.m.; 6 p.m. – 8 p.m.

Monday: 8:30 a.m. – 9 p.m.

During these times, Meadowview Parkway will not be accessible from Wilcox Drive. A detour will be in place for those attending the event and needing to access businesses in the area. Motorists should expect short delays.

Motorists will be allowed to travel from the west end of Meadowview Parkway to Meadowview Lane. From Meadowview Lane, traffic will be funneled to one lane to allow access to the YMCA and Kingsport Aquatic Center. Motorists leaving those facilities will be allowed only to turn right.

Event parking will be at MeadowView, and the entrance closest to Interstate 26 will be the only available entrance to the facility during this time. All event participants and guests must use this entrance.
