Eagles' Hardin goes to the head of the class

Mason Hardin capped a solid season for Rye Cove with an outstanding performance against the Eagles’ cross-county rivals.

The sophomore running back totaled 226 yards in the Cove’s 28-8 victory over Twin Springs on Friday night, earning him top Times News/Johnson City Press Southwest Virginia player of the week honors.

Rushed for 133 yards and two touchdowns and finished with 93 yards receiving with a touchdown in the victory over the Titans.


C.J. Crabtree, Central

Rushed for 160 yards and two touchdowns in the Warriors’ 28-27 victory over Grundy on Friday night.


Jordan Rasnick, Eastside

Junior, QB

Completed 14 of 24 passes for 229 yards and two touchdowns to lead the Spartans past Castlewood 28-8 on Friday night.


Trenton Adkins, Ridgeview

Sophomore, RB

Rushed for 153 yards and three scores in Friday night’s 58-13 victory against Honaker.


Mikey Culbertson, J.I. Burton

Junior, RB

Rushed for 97 yards and two touchdowns in a 42-0 win over Thomas Walker that secured the Cumberland District regular-season title for the Raiders.
