KNOXVILLE — Tennessee will hold the first spring football game of Jeremy Pruitt’s coaching tenure April 21 at 2 p.m., the university announced Tuesday.

The annual Orange and White Game at Neyland Stadium caps the Vols’ spring practice. Tennessee hasn’t announced the opening date for its spring drills.

Tennessee is trying to bounce back from a 4-8 season in which it set a school record for losses and finished winless in Southeastern Conference play for the first time since the league’s formation in 1933.

Pruitt replaced Butch Jones, who was fired after posting a 34-27 record in five seasons. Pruitt most recently served as defensive coordinator at Alabama and helped the Crimson Tide win the 2017 national championship.

The Vols open the 2018 season on Saturday, Sept. 1 against West Virginia in Charlotte, N.C.
