Allandale’s shade trees were in high demand Sunday afternoon as visitors were offered an opportunity to sample a variety of food trucks parked in front of the mansion.
Behind the barn there were four croquet pitches set up to accommodate up to four matches at a time, with the victors earning a much coveted medallion.
Across town the Exchange Place hosted its annual FarmFest event, offering visitors a glimpse at life on an 1850s working farmstead.
Children observed how their counterparts lived, played, and did chores in the mid-19th century — from using washboards and hanging up wash with clothes pins, spinning wool, to making toys, arts and crafts, music, gardening, farm animals and hay rides.
There were also farm treats such as watermelon, boiled corn on the cob, kettle corn and lemonade.
