Staff Report • Aug 2, 2018 at 3:11 PM

HILTONS — Enjoy music, food, crafts and more this Friday and Saturday at the Carter Family Fold’s 44th annual Memorial Music Festival.

The event is held annually to honor the historic Bristol Sessions of 1927, which many believe changed the face of American music.

Event details

In addition to music, the festival will feature outside food booths and mountain craft vendors. These can be accessed once the games open at 3 p.m. on Friday and at noon on Saturday. Visitors can also take chances to win a homemade quilt.

The A.P. Carter Cabin Birthplace and the Carter Family Museum will be open from the time the gates open each day until 8 p.m. Music and “jamming” will take place on the grounds, in addition to the scheduled performers inside the Carter Fold.

A special area for jamming will be set up adjacent to the museum, and limited rough camping is available.

Music on the stage gets underway at 6 p.m. on Friday and at 3 p.m. on Saturday. Carter Family music will open each set on Friday night, Saturday afternoon and Saturday night.
