KINGSPORT — If you haven’t purchased your tickets to the Racks by the Tracks festival, it’s not too late to do so.

The festival, which will be held Saturday at the Kingsport Farmers Market, is on track to bring in around 15,000 attendees again this year, and tickets are still available for every event.

“Racks by the Tracks is a day for families and friends to get together and to run into old friends, while enjoying great barbecue, craft beer, wine and music,” said Kanishka Biddanda, festival founder. “We also have options for every budget — even free!”

What’s new?

This year, Biddanda said, beer tasting attendees will get to sample more than 100 brews at the craft beer event, which was previously divided into two parts: a high-gravity tasting and a low-gravity tasting.

Biddanda added that the 10K and 5K race course has been modified so that it’s even flatter and simpler than in previous years. More than 600 runners are expected to participate, and more than 150 are slated to take the Boss Hog Challenge, in which they will run both races.

“It’s already considered the fastest course in the region,” Biddanda said, “and with this year’s updates, we expect many runners to break their personal records.”

Who will be performing?

Biddanda said this year’s slate of entertainers, which features A Great Disaster, If Birds Could Fly, Tuesday’s Gone and Aaron Tippin, is the best concert lineup the festival has had in 11 years.

“We’ve booked two of our region’s most popular bands, each with over 10,000 followers on social media, and we are bringing (Tuesday’s Gone), the nation’s best Lynyrd Skynyrd tribute band,” Biddanda said. “Finally, we have country star Aaron Tippin, who has a slate of No. 1 hits that the crowd will be singing along to.”

How can you get tickets?

Tickets are still available online, and they will also be available for purchase at the festival. Proceeds will benefit nonprofit organizations in Kingsport and the surrounding area.

What if it rains?

“We encourage attendees to bring rain umbrellas or ponchos/rain jackets just in case there is passing rain,” Biddanda said. “All parts of the festival go on rain or shine, because you can’t stop a great party because of a little rain!”
