Rogersville kicks off Christmas in a big way Saturday with a full day of events

ROGERSVILLE — Downtown Rogersville kicks off the Christmas season with a full day of holiday activities Saturday, capped off with an appearance by Santa in Hawkins County’s second Christmas parade of the day.

Rogersville’s Christmas festivities begin with the annual Breakfast with Santa at the Hale Springs Inn, 110 W. Main St., where youngsters will enjoy storytelling, cookie decorating, ornament making and one-on-one time with the man himself.

Breakfast With Santa seatings are at 8 a.m., 10 a.m. and noon, and the event lasts about 90 minutes. Reservations are required. For more information, call (423) 272-5171.

There will be a Holiday Artist, Crafter and Vendor Fair from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. at Occasions on the Square, located at 101 W. Main St.

From 2-4 p.m., there will be a Children’s Christmas Store at the Loft Yoga Studio at 207 E. Main St., where children can purchase Christmas gifts for Mom, Dad and grandparents for between $1 and $5.

From 3-5 p.m., U.S. Bank will be open for its annual Parade of Christmas Trees display at 107 E. Main St.

Rogersville will host its annual Christmas parade along Main Street beginning at 4 p.m. The event will feature the big man himself, Santa Claus, bringing up the rear atop a fire truck.

Following the parade, the crowd is encouraged to gather around the spruce tree in front of the courthouse for the annual Christmas Tree Lighting ceremony at 5:30 p.m.

Rogersville’s day of Christmas fun concludes with a “Sounds of the Season” concert at Occasions on the Square beginning at 6 p.m.

It’s going to be a busy couple of weekends in Hawkins County for Santa Claus, who will also make stops in Mount Carmel and Church Hill Saturday, followed by a visit to Bulls Gap Sunday afternoon.

On Saturday morning, Santa will take a cruise down Main Boulevard for the annual Church Hill Christmas parade, which begins at 11 a.m.

After his big finale Saturday evening in Rogersville, Santa returns to Hawkins County Sunday for the Bulls Gap Christmas parade, which begins at 3 p.m.

After a week of supervising toy production at the North Pole, Santa will come back to Hawkins County on Saturday, Dec. 9 for the Surgoinsville Christmas parade, which begins at 11 a.m.

After a quick break for cookies and milk, Santa will make an appearance in the Mount Carmel Christmas parade Dec. 9 along Main Street. The parade will get underway at 3 p.m.

Weather permitting, Santa will also be doing his annual tour of Mount Carmel on Dec. 16. That’s the day Santa climbs on top of a fire truck beginning early in the morning and visits every street in the city before the day ends, bringing candy to everyone who meets him on the side of the roadway.
