Appalachian Fair food drive night

GRAY – According to a press release from the Second Harvest Food Bank, the need for food assistance in Northeast Tennessee is greater than ever. Currently over 39,000 people receive food assistance from the 200 Food Bank agencies that provide food for the needy in our region. You can help. Tuesday, Aug. 20 is Food Drive night at the Appalachian Fair. Bring five cans of food to donate to Second Harvest Food Bank of Northeast Tennessee and get two free midway rides. Limit four offers per family.Food Bank volunteers will be on hand to collect food at gates 1 and 5 and in the Fair Midway near the Farm and Home Building. Ticket vouchers will be given out to be exchanged for tickets at the Second Harvest truck located in the Fair Midway near the Farm and Home Building. Tickets are donated by the Appalachian Fair and James H. Drew.All non-perishable food items can be donated during the Appalachian Fair Food Drive including: Peanut Butter, Cereal, Canned Meats, Canned Soups, Boxed Meals, Canned Fruits & Vegetables, Macaroni & Cheese, Pasta, Rice, Dried Beans and Pasta Sauce. Please no glass containers.
