'True Blood' stars get sexy and edgy

BEVERLY HILLS, Calif. — We've heard of actors who really get into their roles, but this is ridiculous. When "True Blood" stars — and real-life spouses — Anna Paquin and Stephen Moyer were asked what they enjoy doing together in their free time, things got a little edgy."We drink blood together," joked Moyer, after a press conference here at television's summer press tour."We do ritualistic animal sacrifices," added Paquin. "And we host orgies on our trampoline. ... It's all very romantic."Oh, those kooky cut-ups. Apparently they've spent way too much time in fictional Bon Temps, La., where steamy — and very creepy — shenanigans are a way of life. Then again, you can't blame them for being in a playful mood. Their vampire drama, currently rampaging through its fourth season, continues to be a smash hit for HBO. They recently were showered with rapturous adoration from thousands of fans at Comic-Con. And they're just a few weeks away from celebrating their first wedding anniversary. Can it get any better than that?Well, maybe. Due to plot twists, a serious rift has formed between their characters, Sookie and Bill, this season. That means less time working together on set. It also means all that passion (and wild sex) has dissipated into bitterness and cold stares. But no worries. They're willing to go there for the sake of the story."Our love in real life is fine," said Paquin. "So I'm totally happy for our characters to be as sad and distraught and messed up and hating each other as they like. ... It's not interesting television if everything works out for Bill and Sookie and then they adopt five babies and live happily ever after."Maybe they'll eventually get there, but there are still plenty of witches, shape-shifters, werepanthers and blood-suckers to cope with in the meantime. Will creator Alan Ball be there to usher them through it all? Yes, he insisted, dismissing recent rumors that he might want to bolt the show."There will be an end for me on the show at some point," he said. "But I just closed a deal to do another season. I don't have any desire to leave because I'm having more fun than I've ever had in my life."
