Art Show a picture-perfect part of annual Fun Fest celebration

Artwork from around the region and entertainment from across the globe are on tap during this year’s Model City Art Show, a staple of Fun Fest since Kingsport’s first festival more than three decades ago.The juried exhibit, presented by the Kingsport Art Guild, will hang in the Main Art Gallery on the second floor of the Kingsport Renaissance Center through July 27. Visitors to the display, formerly the Fun Fest Art Show, will see a variety of media by professional and amateur artists from the Mountain Empire. Many of the pieces are for sale; proceeds benefit the artists and the Kingsport Art Guild.Winners will be announced during an awards reception from 2 to 4 p.m., July 17 at the gallery. Local legislators and representatives of several sponsoring businesses have been invited to present $1,200 in cash prizes, including the “Celebrate Kingsport” award and two awards for rising ninth- through 12th-grade students.
