Kingsport City Schools announces Summer Meals for Kids program

KINGSPORT — Free summer breakfasts and lunches are coming to the Model City again this year for children 18 and younger.

Kingsport City Schools School Nutrition Services has again partnered with the Tennessee Department of School Nutrition Services to provide the Summer Meals for Kids program at John Sevier Middle School, 1200 Wateree St., and at other locations across the city on an RSVP basis.

The 2019 Seamless Summer Food Service Program is administered by the Tennessee Department of School Nutrition Services under an agreement with the U.S. Department of Agriculture. 

No-cost meals will be served Monday through Friday to all children 18 and younger from May 28 to July 19. There are no income requirements to participate in this summer program. 

Breakfast will be served from 8 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. Lunch will be served from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Children wishing to participate should enter Sevier Middle at the front of the building, and signage will be by the entry. No meals will be served on weekends or July 4.

Other Summer Meals for Kids locations via RSVP include: Palmer Center, V.O. Dobbins Center, Splash Pad, Adams Elementary, Johnson Elementary, Lincoln Elementary, Roosevelt Elementary, Robinson Middle School, D-B EXCEL, Girls Inc., Lynn View Community Center and YMCA. Also via RSVP, the following apartment complexes are in the program: Allandale Falls, Holly Hills, Kingsport West, Dogwood Terrace, Miller Village and Stone Crest.
