STAFF REPORT • Feb 20, 2019 at 5:41 PM

ROGERSVILLE — Rogersville City School announced Tuesday evening it will be closed for the rest of the week beginning Wednesday due to extensive illness and the need to scrub down the school with disinfectant.

RCS director Rebecca Isaacs told the Times News that flu and various viruses were impacting students and staff.

On Tuesday the absentee rate for students was at 14 percent, but began climbing Tuesday afternoon.

“Our cleaning contractor and in-house staff will extensively clean over the next three days,” Isaacs said.

RCS is an independent K-9 school. As of Tuesday evening classes in the Hawkins County School System for Wednesday were scheduled as normal.
