KINGSPORT — This week’s wintry weather has led to the postponement of a Kingsport City Schools school board meeting and high school musical performances, both originally originally scheduled for Tuesday night.

The Board of Education meeting originally scheduled for Tuesday, Dec. 11, has been rescheduled for 6 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 18, at its normal time and normal location of the Administrative Support Center, in the third floor Tennessee Room, according to a news release from Communications Editor Marybeth McLain of the school system.

The Dobyns-Bennett High School combined Symphonic Bands, known as the “Monster Band,” were originally scheduled to perform the annual Holiday Concert Tuesday, Dec. 11. However, instead they will perform at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 13, with the Wind Symphony  immediately following, according to a post on the D-B band’s Facebook account by Assistant Band Director Turner Hawkins. These musical performances still will be at the Toy F. Reid Eastman Employees Center, the original venue, but the high school musical performances will occur before the Sevier Middle School Christmas performance already scheduled for 7 p.m. at the center that night.

KCS schools were not in session Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday because of a winter storm that dumped up to a foot of snow in the greater Kingsport area.
