ROGERSVILLE — There’s always a few administration changes at the beginning of any school year, and this year Hawkins County students will find a new principal at Mount Carmel Elementary and Joseph Rogers Primary, as well as a new assistant manager at Surgoinsville Middle.

One of the top positions in the central office is changing as well,  with interim director Dr. Reba Bailey naming former JRP principal Lori Allen as the new elementary supervisor.

Bailey also announced this week the appointment of a new transportation director.

“Each of these educators has demonstrated a passion for continuous improvement and they will be tremendous assets they guide our schools and our transportation department,” Bailey said. “I look forward to working with and supporting them as we begin the 2018-2019 school year.”

Elementary Supervisor

Allen assumes the Elementary Supervisor position vacated by Richard Hutson who has left Hawkins County Schools to become principal of Cherokee Elementary School in Johnson City.

She was principal at JRP for the past four years, and previously served as a math coach, and teacher at Hawkins Elementary and JRP.

Allen also previously worked with the Tennessee Department of Education’s CORE Office to present material to administrators, participated in the Niswonger Blended Learning Initiative, as well as presenting professional development to Hawkins County teachers.

She earned her Bachelors and Masters’ degrees from East Tennessee State University and her EDs in Administration and Supervision from Lincoln Memorial University.

“I am excited to be selected as the Elementary Supervisor for Hawkins County Schools. It is an honor and privilege to be able to serve such an amazing community of dedicated teachers and administrators,” Allen said. “I am looking forward to continuing the level of excellence already established by this district.”

She is currently an adjunct professor with Tusculum University’s undergraduate and graduate program for pre-service teachers.

“I am looking forward to starting a new journey with the faculty and staff at Joseph Rogers Primary,” Manning said. “By building a community and learning from one another, we are going to continue to grow our students academically, socially and emotionally. I am excited to begin and make JRP my home.”
