"Libraries Rock!" That's the theme of the 2018 summer reading program and local libraries are getting in on the fun with a full slate of programs for all ages from infants to adults.

The Kingsport Public Library kicked off its program May 29 and offers a full slate of activities for all ages. And, best of all, you can join the fun at any time.

Participants can register online at www.kingsportlibrary.org and pick up a reading log in the Youth Services Department. For every 20 minutes logged (whether read or listened to), participants can earn prizes.

Wednesday Youth Programs

The elementary summer reading program, for students in grades K-5, will feature special guests at 11 a.m. and 2:30 p.m., most Wednesdays. The only exceptions will be July 4, when the library is closed and there will be no programs, and July 18, during Fun Fest when the program moves to a Tuesday.

Thursday Teen Programs

Teenagers can keep track of the books and time they spend reading between June 4 and July 27 to be entered for prize drawings. For every hour logged (title and amount of time you read that week), teens earn one entry into a weekly drawing. Submissions must be made by 5 p.m., Fridays to be eligible in that week's drawing. They're also invited to write a book review to earn an extra entry each week.

Teen summer reading programs will be offered Thursdays at 4 p.m. beginning June 14. For each program attended, a teen reader will have his/her name entered into a grand prize drawing to be held at program's end.
