CHURCH HILL — Church Hill Middle School will reopen Thursday after being closed all week, first on Monday for county-wide flooding, and then Tuesday and Wednesday due to a heating system breakdown.

The Hawkins County School System as a whole used up its 11th and final stockpiled "snow day" Monday after flooding county wide created a dangerous situation for school busing.

But, a heating breakdown kept CHMS students out of school Tuesday and Wednesday as well, which means that school will have to find a way to make up two more days to meet the required minimum for th eschool year.

Director of Schools Steve Starnes said CHMS would be open Thursday "barring any unforeseen issues."

Starnes said he is working wit the Tennessee Department of Education to formulate plan for CHMS to make up its two days, and he will announce that plan tot he public when it is finlalized.
