The Literacy Council of Kingsport partnered with Gravelly Baptist Church’s Women On Mission group to make Mother’s Day extra special for the women at The Oasis of Kingsport.

The ‘Handbags with a Heart’ service project donated 40 gently-used handbags filled with personal care necessities, along with special items that every woman needs to feel pretty, such as nail polish, makeup, lotion, perfume and jewelry. The handbags also included a personal handwritten inspirational Mother’s Day Card for the women.

The project also provided an important opportunity for students from the Literacy Council to practice their English language skills and give back to the Kingsport community.
