Cassidy well ahead of Anderson in early/absentee ballot

BLOUNTVILLE — Jeff Cassidy takes 57.35 percent of early/absentee vote in race for Sullivan County sheriff, according to unofficial results posted by the Sullivan County Election Commission after close of polls tonight. Of the 12,367 early/absentee ballots cast, incumbent Sheriff Wayne Anderson (R) received 5,108 (or 42.65 percent) of the vote, while Cassidy (I), garnered 6,868 (or (57.35 percent). The undervote in the race (the number of voters who cast early/absentee ballots in the county general election, but did not vote in the race for sheriff) was 391 (or 3.16 percent).
