Kingsport holding three kids camps in December

KINGSPORT – The Kingsport Parks and Recreation Department is hosting a series of camps during the month of December at the V.O. Dobbins Community Center.

A winter tennis camp will be held on Dec. 12 and 13 where participants will learn the basics and skills of tennis. The cost is $40 per child.

Sessions for kids ages 6 to 8 will be from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Dec 12 and 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. on Dec. 13. Older kids (ages 9 to 12) will attend sessions from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. on Dec. 12 and 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Dec. 13.

A “Holiday Hangout” event will take place from Dec. 21 to 23 – three days of Christmas fun for the kids, with activities such as sports, holiday-themed games, crafts and movies. Be sure to pack a lunch and pre-registration is suggested.

The hangout is for kids ages 6 to 12 with a cost of $10 per child. The event runs from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day. Extended hours (8 a.m. to 5 p.m.) costs an extra $10 per child.

Finally, the department is holding a “Winter Break Camp” the last week of the year, from Dec. 28 to 31, and again with activities such as sports, games, movies and crafts. Kids should pack a lunch and pre-registration is recommended.
