Devotion for Feb. 12, 2014

“When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said, ‘I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.’” — John 8:12 (NIV)
A national hotel chain offers a nice perk in its room — a nightlight in the bathroom. Now certainly some may think that’s not much of a perk, at least compared to turn-down service or chocolates on the pillows. But when you wake up in an unfamiliar, dark room, that little bit a light goes a long way in making you feel less disoriented. An emotional disorientation can plague us when the darkness of this life covers us. It is in these dark moments that we can see Jesus, for He is the light of the world, indeed the light of life.
Prayer: Living God, You have promised to never leave us or forsake us. Thank you for sending us the Light of world who scatters darkness and restores us to life. Amen.Readers are encouraged to submit their own testimonials and prayers, and leaders of all faiths are welcome to submit messages or sermons here
